Upper Canada Village
Upper Canada Village is a re-creation of an 1867 pioneer town. Living history is the theme for the park featuring actors in period costume recalling the Loyalist period, and the founding of Upper Canada. It's like stepping into a time machine. This attraction offers entertainment and features for all ages to enjoy. A great family outing. It won the Canadian award as the most outstanding and successful summer attraction in 2001.
Fort Henry
Fort Henry overlooks Kingston from a prominent bluff. The restored fort features military exercises recalling the fort's history as a major strategic defense point during the war of 1812. Outstanding sunset evening performances are available during the summer months. It won the 2004 attraction of the year from the Ontario Tourism Association. It has now been designated as an UNESCO Heritage Site.
Landon Bay
Heading East along the 1000 Islands Parkway you will find the Landon
Bay Centre. Only 1 km from Misty Isles Lodge it features public gardens and 4 nature trails. My personal favorite is
the Look Out. This trail takes only 20 minutes and places you on top of a
granite outcrop overlooking the 1000 Islands. There is also the Donovan
trail which is 10km taking you past an osprey nest and a variety of
terrain's. Admission for trails is $4.00. A picnic and swimming area is
also available directly on the St. Lawrence River. Landon Bay has
been purchased by Park's Canada extending their venue of retaining an
natural environment.
Misty Isles offers bike rentals for only $ 30.00/day or you can easily
walk from Misty Isles to enjoy these trails. The most exciting
experience is renting one of our kayaks and paddling into Landon Bay.
You will finally reach a creek that takes you along with a shear rock
cliff to your left and pasture to your right and at the end small gentle
waterfall to complete a perfect adventure. From this point, a new trail will open this season.
Swimming
In Gananoque, there is a deep water swim dock and beach at Joel Stone Park. Rotary Beach offers swimming for smaller children located near the Municipal Marina. Close to Misty Isles, off the 1000 Islands Parkway, are 2 additional swimming areas within 1 km. Gray's Park offers a nice sandy beach ideal for smaller children. At Landon Bay there is a lookout with a long flat rock which stretches far into the water to dive off where it meets the sand bottom. Good swimming can also be found further east at Mallorytown Landing or Browns Bay and west on Highway 2 at Grass Creek Park. There is a water slide within 2 km for children to cool down and have fun. The best beaches are located on Leek Island and the north end of Grindstone Island. Rent one of our boats, take along a picnic basket for an adventure to one of these island beaches. Don't worry, we'll show you how to get there.
Fine Dining
For a small community, Gananoque offers an array of dining from a 4 fork award to casual. The dining in Gananoque is by far more outstanding than our neighbouring town, Brockville. Just another reason why this is your destination.

Trinity House Inn - 90 Stone St. (613) 382-8383

Shopping
Local stores offer everything from day-to-day items at good prices, to specialty shops for gift buying. Stores are spread out along the historic shopping district of King Street. The historic 1000 Islands Village, at the waterfront, also offers unique gifts, collectibles and clothing. Kingston is only 20 miles west of Gananoque and offers 3 malls for browsing or should I say you can shop till you drop. A wonderful downtown core with historic limestone buildings offers an array of boutiques and outdoor cafes.
